It is very easy to replace a pressure switch on your 12v water pump. Designed to regulate the delivery pressure, the pressure switch works by turning the pump off when the set pressure is reached, and turns the pump back on again if the pressure drops. A pressure switch is a sensitive piece of equipment designed to protect your 12v water pump from failure due to a number of factors but most importantly when there is too much pressure in the system.

Procedure to replace 12v water pump pressure switch

If you have a 240 volt model pump print these instructions and give them to your electrician or contact us for assistance.

Step 1: Disconnect the pump from the power supply.

Step 2: On the end of the 12v water pump is a square box. This is the pressure switch. With a Phillips head screwdriver gently remove the screw in the middle and remove the cover.

Step 3: Remove the two red wires from the pressure switch and place them so you can reconnect them in the correct side of the new switch.

Step 4: Unscrew the two screws on the sides of the pressure switch.

Step 5: Remove the old 12v pressure switch ensuring that you don’t dislodge (or lose!) the O ring underneath.

Step 6: Replace with the new pressure switch following these steps in the reverse order.

Step 7: Connect the 12v water pump to your system again.
